City Women Sips

Rum

I get cocktail inspiration from all over the place, but today I’ve listened to three episodes (so far) of my dearest friend Gabi’s podcast City Women Chatter! Listening to it put me in SUCH a good mood that I had to create something delicious to match the vibe.

I HIGHLY recommend this podcast if you’re looking to laugh hysterically at the banter between Gab & Stella, aka the hilarious and enviable Michael Muth for their hot takes on what it means to be a modern woman and their NSFW misadventures in NYC. It’s like SATC but actually good.... (don’t come for me) PS. Episode 7 mentions this drinK!!

Today’s treat is a tiki drink that features two types of rum, Cruzan White Rum, and the most delicious Aged Rum I’ve ever had from Lakeward Spirits in Buffalo NY. Tiki drinks are a culmination of different liqueurs, bitters, and rums. In addition to the two rums, I decided to use a splash of Chambord and incredibly flavorful Fee Brothers Peach Bitters to tie it all together.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz White Rum

  • 1.5 oz Grapefruit Juice

  • .75 oz Falernum

  • .75 oz Ginger Liqueur

  • .25 oz Chambord

  • 3 Dashes Peach Bitters

  • 1 oz Aged Rum

Method

Add all ingredients except for aged rum to a shaker with ice and shake for 15 seconds until chilled. Strain into a glass filled with crushed or pebble ice. Float aged rum over the top and garnish with fresh herbs and edible flowers.

If you enjoy this drink a fraction of the amount I enjoy listening to City Women Chatter, then I will sleep easy tonight. PLEASE do yourself a favor and listen and subscribe to this amazing podcast.
