Pie In The Sky

If you’re like me, you appreciate pie but it’s not your dessert of choice. I love the flavors but don’t enjoy the mouthfeel or general experience of eating pie. Weird, I know. However, this distaste for eating pie has led me to create some delicious pie-inspired cocktails that allow me to indulge in the wonderful flavors of pies but without the chore of eating a slice.

From what I hear, Thanksgiving is not complete without a warm slice of pecan pie. Using this information- I looked at some pie recipes and came up with this pecan pie-inspired cocktail that is absolutely delicious and the perfect dessert cocktail to enjoy after dinner! In fact, it was so good- I might just try an actual slice of pecan pie this year!

This cocktail ended up being creamy and full of nutty flavors. There are plenty of substitutes for each of the ingredients so cater to whatever your pallet prefers!

  • 2 oz Bourbon

  • 1 oz of Frangelico or another nut-based liqueur like Pecan Proof Syrup

  • 1 oz Brown Sugar & Vanilla Syrup

  • .75 oz Orange Liqueur

  • 1 oz of Whipped Cream or .75 oz of a cream liqueur like Baileys

  • Pecans

Method

  1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients except for pecans and top with ice.

  2. Shake for 20 seconds until chilled and strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

  3. Top with whipped cream and garnish with chopped pecans.

Brown Sugar & Vanilla Syrup
