Taste of Mumbai

Earlier this year I traveled halfway across the world to finally pay a visit to my dear friend- and attend her wedding! I have to say, it may have been the best two weeks of my life. Since being home, I’ve been attempting to concoct a cocktail that captures the incredible flavors and colors in the food there! And y’all I think I may have outdone myself here…

After some extensive googling to figure out what went into my favorite dishes- I settled on fat washing as the method to incorporate SO much flavor without overwhelming the palette of the drink. I toasted a combination of turmeric, coriander, cumin & mustard seeds, and ginger, then melted coconut oil and fat-washed bourbon in it. The mouthfeel is incredible and the flavors are robust without being overpowering.

Ingredients:
2 oz Curry Spice and coconut fat-washed Bourbon
1/2 oz Tamarind Juice
1/2 oz ginger syrup
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
5 dashes of Garam Masala Bitters

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rock glass rimmed with turmeric and sugar and garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy!
